Entebbe: Getting There

Entebbe International Airport (EBB), situated on Lake Victoria in Entebbe town, is Uganda’s main airport, located about 46 km / 29 miles from the capital, Kampala. Due to Uganda's compact size, ground transportation is typically the preferred travel option, though luxurious packages, including fly-in safaris, are available. Airport and hotel transfers are usually included in your tour package. The airport features two terminals: one for international flights and the other for domestic services. Is Entebbe safe?

Entebbe is generally safe for visitors, but it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings and take basic precautions. Opportunistic crimes, such as pickpocketing and bag snatching, can occur, so avoid displaying expensive items like jewellery or electronics. Keep valuable items like cameras and smartphones out of sight when not in use, and avoid walking after dark. Stick to popular areas during daylight hours. Booking tours with licensed operators is a smart way to avoid scams. For extra peace of mind, consider a guided walking tour. Note that Uganda is not an LGBTQ-friendly destination. Always check the latest travel advisories from your government before visiting.
